Wow for people allergic to corn I would say that is sad as can be, how restrictive!!!

I still believe there has got to be a poppy-seed salad dressing recipe that has corn syrup as an ingredient, and we can make it at home!

People demand taste first. They complain about the ingredients later. Then a different (more expensive) ingredient is used and they complain about the price. They put in a less expensive ingredient and then the complaints come about the taste. Are we seeing a cycle here? :D

I would just take a regular recipe and substitute the corn syrup for whatever sweetener was used and then adjust to taste. Shouldn't be too difficult.

Here's a salad dressing that uses corn syrup for an example:

Creamy Italian Dressing

1/2 cup Mayonnaise
1/3 cup White Vinegar
1 teaspoon Vegetable Oil
2 tablespoons Corn Syrup
2 tablespoons Parmesan Cheese
2 tablespoons Romano Cheese
1 clove Garlic -- minced
1/2 teaspoon Italian Seasoning
1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
1 tablespoon Lemon Juice

Mix all ingredients in a blender til well mixed. Refrigerate.
Serve over salad greens

Description: "Simple dressing, kinda tastes like Olive Garden Dressing."

NOTES : If too tart for your taste add sugar to your personal taste.

>Just a list of foods/dressings containing corn syrup.<

Oh, I see. But that would include almost every commercial food product, not just the stuff from the squat & gobbles.

The thing about corn syrup, though, was Chubby mentioning that a club he used to work at made their poppy-seed dressing with it. That's what the search was all about---finding a recipe that did so.

Hi CanMan & mama,

KHY is not looking for products that have corn syrup as a cruel filler or additive- he's actually on a hunt for a poppyseed dressing I recall from early in my career where Karo Light Corn Syrup is actually a lovely chief ingredient. The dressing is delicious- even resembles the thick, clear syrup in appearance if it's refrigerated and allowed to solidify a bit. It's a vinaigrette and I recall it being comprised of oil, vinegar, garlic, water, poppyseeds, and corn syrup- though I cannot recall the proportions at all. It's the tradional dressing for the Cobb Salad made famous at the Brown Derby Restaurants. I love it on any salad with brumbled blue cheese scattered across it- something about the tang of the cheese w/ the sweet of the dressing is heavenly!
