I love the crock pot because I can put the food in it in the morning, forget about it all day, then at night dinner is all ready with hardly any effort.

I think there are lots of good options out there that don't contain beef. Not sure how ethnic they are, but I bet as universal as the crock pot is, that someone has come up with some good recipes.

Also as someone else mentioned it's handy for keeping things warm when you have a get together of friends or family.

Hmmm, the family get together idea makes a lot of sense. We currently never do gatherings at our house b/c we have a big family and our house is very small. But whenever we move (and when our kids are older such that I need to cook for more people regularly) I think I'll invest in a crockpot.

You know I had a crockpot years ago, but I hardly used it also. Lately I have been thinking about getting another one. They are good for roasts and barbecued meats
