Dishwasher?

I don't own one, and I doubt I ever will again. I found they never get the dishes that clean anyhow. I used jet dry, cascade, you name it, and still, yuck. I hate the smell left behind on the dishes, the smudges, grit and leftovers.

Do you use a dishwasher? Does it get your dishes clean? Anyone have tips/hints for dishwasher users?

I find for myself and just being 4 of us, it's just easier and probably faster to just wash them by hand myself.

I have a really old dishwasher and it does suck as well, but I wash all of my dishes before I put them in there for added wash. I can't leave a crumb food on any of the dished or I wind up with with a lot of dirty dishes.

I do have one and I find it a great time saver.

It cleans very well if I place the tablet inside the tub as opposed to in the tray in which it used to clump.

That said, though, I fantasize about giving my current dishwasher a good, swift, kick. Prior to the warranty running out it made a very raunchy noise mid-cycle. Sounded like the motor so the repair guy replaced it. Wasn't the motor, it's off warranty and we endure this noise daily for at least 10 mins. I'd never buy a Maytag again. This one doesn't even have an interrupt. If you pause the cycle you must begin again. It wasn't the most expensive model but it wasn't "bargain basement" either (which it may as well be).

Sheer junk, but it serves the primary purpose.

We have a Maytag dishwasher and it's worked great for us. When we first moved in it was so quiet compared to the one at our prior place that we opened it a few times to make sure it was working. It does a good job for us. We clean our pots and pans by hand. Other than that we toss every thing into the dishwasher.

With the maytag do you have to prerinse everything. Or is it that good. I need to get one of those.

I prefer the dishwasher as I believe it gets the dishes cleaner and certainly more sterile since it is hotter than water out of the tap that you would use to hand wash with.

I love my dishwasher wish it was bigger but love it anyways. I also wash them before i put them in just for an extra wash, throwing them in the dishwasher also appears to help with water spots; those are annoying.

I dont have a dishwasher. I have had one before when I was in apartments. I did like the convenience of a dishwasher. I think I used to use cascade plus. I would always rinse them first.

We have a Kenmore dishwasher and it is AWESOME. We could not live without it. We use Cascade Complete powder (it was top rated by consumer reports) and our dishes are always clean, we never have a problem unless something was baked on to begin with and then we soak it first.

Dishwashers use less water than washing in the sink which i found interesting (ours is energy efficient). Plus i love that it gets the dishes sanitized and much cleaner than i would washing in the sink. And it saves so much time too!

Oh well - my dishwasher is "leftie" and "rightie"; gets everything clean first time around; rinses well and also dries!

And gets this - they also put away!!

I don't have a dishwasher anymore.... I found that the only thing mine was good for was a nice bruise when I forgot the door was down and I ran into it.

And... I'm waiting on a man to come in and comment "yeah that's why I married my wife" Sorry to spoil your fun. Hahaa Nenner Nenner

I have Whirlpool dishwaser and it works great. I dont have to rinse my dishes before I put them in and they always come clean. It has a sanitary option on it also. It saves me so much time in the kitchen and I dont think I could live without one.

I am spoiled; I couldn't do without a dishwasher. I run it at least once a day (and it's full, so it's not that I'm wasting energy or water).

I don't have a dishwasher at the moment. But I will have one as soon as I move. My mom always had one. My dad got her a Whirlpool dishwasher. It worked just fine. The dishes never smelled funny & they were always clean. My dad still uses a dishwasher & it works just fine. They work best if you rinse the hard stuff off the dishes before you put them in the dishwasher.

I have an old (very old) fashioned dishwasher and it's not even electric. It's called "lefty and righty" and together they scrub the tiniest bits and pieces off everything. They also do a really great job cleaning, cooking, baking, gardening, ironing, washing clothes, doing windows, wiping noses, changing diapers, etc.

I'm dying for a new dishwasher. Ours is on its last legs; it doesn't seem to want to close unless you hold it just right, and sometimes it doesn't want to turn on unless you move the dial exactly just so.

Perhaps we can make a visit to Lowe's so I can lust over some new ones.

We have a dishwasher but the kids sometimes thinks it is a short cut to put their dishes in without rinsing....that is when I decided they needed to become my dishwashers for awhile...now they always rinse!

I don't have a dishwasher and I really wish I did. In the house we were renting before we bought this one; we had a dishwasher and we just loved it. I WILL have a dishwasher in the next house! The kitchen is too small in this house for one.

I have one - a Maytag portable machine, and it DOES get the dishes sparkling clean!

It can be set to boost the water temp in the main wash and final rinse for extra-hot steamy water to destroy germs and bacteria. It has four cycles and it bone-dries the dishes very well! I've had it for seven years with no problem at all.

Maytag DID however, put out a recall on certain models of its machines (mine was one of them) for a defect that had surfaced as a potential fire hazard. The inner door was replaced, but the machine itself never suffered any type of failure.

I like it and it has done well by me!
