Favorite Kitchen Gadget?

I think it would be fun to hear about what other people love to use in their kitchens.

My favorite kitchen gadgets?
Food Chopper from Pampered Chef and Flexible Cutting boards. And i also *love* my metal measuring spoons.

It's not really a gadget, but my favorite item for the kitchen is the Reynold's non stick aluminum foil. It makes broiling and baking of tough sticking foods a breeze. I don't know how I got along without it.

I guess I would have to say my favorite kitchen gadget would be my Fiskar scissors. They are the best scissors I have ever used. They cut through everything so easily. I have a pair in my kitchen drawer and have all I can do to keep my husband from using them for all kind of things around the house, they are that good.

I forgot about kitchen scissors, those are great and i use mine for everything. I have Wustoff ones but i will keep Fiskar in mind as a brand whenever we need to replace them (hopefully not for awhile!).

I've never really used aluminum foil in cooking (except to cover a baking dish in the oven). My husband sometimes lines the broiler pan in the toaster oven with foil though to catch run-off fat.

Well, honestly the thing that's truly indispensable is a good knife.

However, that might not be really a gadget, so I will have to say I also love my mini Cuisinart chopper. It's the perfect size for chopping small amounts of things for recipes, and everything goes into the dishwasher and hardly takes up any space at all.

I love my kitchen and all my "toys" - but I have to admit - even with all the electric appliances and gadgets I have (or have had) - throughout the years my favorite "gadget" is my pizza wheel!

I use it for mincing herbs, cutting homemade pasta, cutting bacon, cutting cheeses, cutting cookie dough, trimming jellyrolls, trimming fat from thinner chops, cutting steaks into "fingers", pastry dough, grilled cheese sandwiches, making appetizers, slicing veggies, cutting garlic bread, slicing and dicing - you name it! It's my best "knife". The list is endless.

Oh - yes - I do cut pizza, calzone and foccacia with it!

(I don't use the little cheapie ones - I have a good-sized one - it wasn't that expensive and I've gotten my moneys' worth!)

:p

Oh yes, it's amazing what you can do with the pizza wheel. I have one that I actually bought in Italy years ago, and I seem to always forget about it but when I use it for something like, say, slicing quesadillas, I remember how useful it is.

I'm always on the lookout for great kitchen gadgets. I just wish I had the money (and space in my small kitchen) to buy them all. I love our pizza stone, in fact, we're on the second one as the first one cracked while it was warming a while ago. When I bought a new one I made sure it was a nice one. Hopefully it lasts longer than the first. I would really like a second stone so that we can make two pizzas at a time.

I love my little Hold and Slice (from pampered chef). I absolutely hate touching raw chicken or any raw meat really so it's nice to have that little tool so that I touch the reaw meat as little as possible.

I just bought a ginger/garlic press (also pampered chef) and wow, that thing is great! I'm never squeeze ginger by hand again.

And I definitely love our kitchenaid. I just wish it were red. : )

I love the microwave. I do not cook well. That is why I am here. I have alway microwaved everything that I can.

Hey, I think the microwave is indispensable, whether you're a novice cook or a gourmet chef. It's great for things like melting butter or cheese or heating up things. And it's one less thing to do on the hot stove in summertime!

My other favorite kitchen gadget is my Pampered Chef pizza cutter. It is the best pizza cutter that I have ever used. It is so good that I have a brand new one that I keep around in case my regularly used one breaks.

Some people can cook in a microwave but all I can do is melt butter and barely heat food. I must have some kind of block, as I've used microwave ovens for years, and still can't reheat foods right the first time. I always err on the side of cold food, and have to heat a few times. Might be because of a few bad experiences in the past, like the melted Tupperware plate and burning popcorn. :(

Alice the trick to popping popcorn in the microwave is to set the time according to the package directions and then stay at the microwave. As soon as you hear the popping slowing down to a few pops stop the cooking. This usually happens about 1 min before the end of the allotted time. I find that you get the majority of the popcorn popped that way as well as not having to eat burned popcorn. Note: Once you open the microwave door you are done trying to pop the popcorn. If you try and continue popping you ultimately end up with unpopped burnt popcorn. This happens because the butter or oil starts to cool down and then has to heat up again to continue popping the corn and the popcorn that is already popped becomes overcooked/burnt.

Pampered chef liquid/solid measuring cup. I love this gadet when I'm measuring out mayo for pasta or potato salad.

I love my little vegetable chopper. It's low-tech, but handy. Chopping is the part of cooking that seems to take absolutely forever, so I find it very helpful.

I was thinking about that, that cutter where you put things in, put down for like 3 seconds, and it cuts it to pieces. I forget exactly what it's called though, but the TV box is always telling me I can get it for two easy payments of $19.95.

i love my food styler. I can core apples for the kids, slice/dice onions, make homemade fries, puree, whatever needs to be done, can be done on my styler. love it, very quick and easy, and no tough cleanups either. really saves me tons of kitchen prep time.

My favorite kitchen gadgets are: good knife, can opener & peeler. Not a day goes by that I don't use them for something. They work for everything: fruits, cutting open packages, cutting vegetable stems, cutting chicken apart, opening cheese, opening canned goods. You name it, and you can use them for it. I don't know what I'd do without them!

My dad has a mushroom slicer that I like a lot, but can't seem to find one for myself...in my kitchen it has to be the KitchenAid!
