We ended up doing rather a last minute thing, but it turned out well. DH had smoked a brisket a couple of days ago so we had a good start on the food:

Hickory smoked brisket
Link sausage
Chicken breasts - marinated in Baja Chipotle marinade
Baked potatoes
Baked beans
Garlic bread
Fruit salad
Apricot cobbler

We have a TON of food left over - I don't know what I'm going to do with it all!

We went to a friends house and did a modified surf and turf dinner. The surf was cooked shrimp and the turf was grilled steaks. We also had a salad, rolls, asparagus, and baked potato. We all were so stuffed that we did not even get a chance to enjoy the watermelon that was for desert. Everyone had a great time.

Didn't cook but we did end up at my SIL house for a cookout yesterday. Nothing special just burgers and hotdogs, fruit tray, baked beans, chip, dip, homemade ice cream :)

We were at my boyfriend's parents house and they grilled for us. I had a nice filet mignon and some grilled spinach naan. They all made homemade gyros from grilled sirloin, some yogurt concoction and grilled naan. I was quite full after lunch. : )

Yup....of COURSE we grilled out. I mean...it's almost as much of a tradition as watching fireworks. I really do enjoy getting together to spend time with friends and family to cook out.

oh yes, there was much grilling going on. Hot dogs for the kids, salmon and steak for the big folk, and an amaaaazing watermelon-and-feta-cheese side salad!

We were at my aunt and uncle's house and they grilled steak, burgers, and brats. And then they also smoked a turkey which was SO good.

OMG, this all sounds so good. We did chicken thighs (great for grilling!) marinated with beer, soy sauce, garlic, onion, mustard, brown sugar, and a little water. We sprinked them with black pepper (liberally) and they were amazing. We served them with german potato salad and brats.
