RE: "Of all Dolly's songs..."

Not to embarrass you publicly, Cathy... but that wasn't Dolly. Barbara Mandrell sang that- w/ a quick cameo vocal offered by George Jones at the end... Unless of course she did a cover over it at some point that I've never happened across.

Dolly of course is a tremendous song-writer who's penned thousands of songs, but she's known for covering others' songs too. In fact, it's kind of her trade-mark these days to re-make famous pop-songs with her own trade-mark bluegrass twist. She's re-made many songs that way the last few years, like: "If" by Bread, "Time For Me to Fly" by REO Speedwagon, "Shine" by Collective Soul, "Peace Train" by Cat Stevens, "He Drives Me Crazy" by Fine Young Cannibals, "Imagine" by John Lennon, "Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zeppelin, "In the Ghetto" Elvis Presley, "House of the Rising Sun" by BB King, etc...

"Islands in the Stream" was a duet w/ Kenny Rogers, Cath. Know who wrote it? Robin and Barry Gibb from the Bee-Gees. They once did a fantastic concert on HBO where they sang the bounty of songs they've written that other artists have performed over the years- folks from Celine Dion to Barbara Streisand and Olivia Newton John. It was a fantastic show to see! (I like Barbara Mandrell too! Another Barbar M. claim to fame- she built the largest log home in the world- and the only log home in the world w/ a helicopter-pad!)
