I have a buddy who likes to tell folks that he finally ad to quit jogging and riding his bike cold turkey, because he kept spilling his beer- and his cigarette was constantly burning-out!
Another thing that irritates me is that the people at work who smoke get twice as many breaks as the rest of us. Every hour they go outside to smoke a cigarette and socialize but you aren't allowed to do that unless you smoke?

funny on one ship I worked on, another cook used to say, with a wink, "hey, Nan, lets grab a smoke". when I could, would take the time and sneak out without a smoke and bs for a few minutes. to this day some of that crew just assumed I smoked and would have probably been miffed if they found out I didn't!!
I had one Captain who said if he was in charge of new hires, he would not hire smokers, not enough time for them to smoke and get thier job done. other funny thing is, as on the vessel above, a union job, they will dash out over and over to smoke, but also make it to mess room for coffee breaks, see what you started, hehe.

The worst part about employment-place smoke-breaks at many camps I worked at was the fact that smoking areas were damned near an acre across the grounds away from the kitchen. It took about 10 minutes for folks to go have a quick puff- then of course 10 more minutes for them to return!
I worked at a Princess Resort and staffers had to hike up a hill all the way to employee housing to their dorm rooms to smoke! Helll- when co-workers needed to take a puff half the staff was gone for practically half an hour or more it seemed!
