I love them - I can't wait till they come out each fall! And the juice is excellent, not sweet, a bit tart - but I started to drink it about a year ago and I can honestly say that I have fewer colds (I live in the snow belt!) and I also eat at least 4 oz. yogurt each day. I think that combination works very well.
I have read that tomatoes have a high concentration of antioxidants as well. During the summer months my family eats lots of salads that are just tomato, cucumber and onions. I also love drinking tomato juice.
Tomatoes are excellent - I don't have any blood in my veins - it's all tomato sauce!! I love tomatoes with onion, olive oil, salt, pepper and basil....makes a great salad or sandwich stuffer. Stuffed tomates, baked tomatoes, plain tomatoes, you name it - I eat it! Tomatoes in omelets, on sandwiches, as salads, with beans and a vinaigrette, mmmmmmmmmmmmm..........
I loooooove tomatoes. My favorite way to eat them is sliced with fresh mozzarella cheese, fresh basil, and olive oil. Oh that is soooooooooooo good (especially when you leave them that way for an hour or two to give the flavors time to meld).
That is a staple in my home!!! And don't forget to dip some crusty Italian bread in it!!
