I love my mandolin, but you would have to be a sadist to not use the safety slide.. :)

I used to have a small chopper for onions but it wasn't too durable. It would be nice to have a good food processor though.

Hi ChefBoy,

What I do have is this simple little blender that is about 2 cup capacity, and it does wonders for small jobs. I even make pancake batter in mine, and chop & dice, and all kinds of salad dressing etc. I think it's a neat item to own and clean up is a breeze. It's just a small replica of a large blender and I believe it's a sunbeam? But you may like it so I thought I'd pass the info along:)

You have meet my monster in law to full appreciate her. Remember that movie with Jane Fonda..Jons Mom should have been paid royalties :D We dont trade Christmas presents with them. Nothing is good enough for them unless it is very expensive and we just cannot afford that so for the past few years they dont shop for us and we dont shop for them. They have the same deal with Jons brother. We all go to their place and have dinner and watch Jons brothers two kids open their presents.
Jons Dads on the other hand. We always shop for him. He is a total sweetie and loves anything you get him and he and I both love to cook.

Hi JG,
I had to smile when I read your description of the Ma-in-law!
It is so funny how so many things change and evolve in time: everything that is except a mother-in-law;)...oh well it's kind of comforting to know some things are carved in stone!
I got my cookbooks in today, and they are beautiful. The cover gracing the book titled "the flavors of Morocco" is beautiful, I have just started it and will be up an hour over my usual bedtime just devouring this one! Thanks so much for letting us know about the cook book club!
