How about some avocado recipes?


BEER BATTERED FRIED AVOCADO WEDGES WITH SALSA

Serves: 4

1 cup lager beer or ale
1 cup all-purpose flour
1-1/2 teaspoons paprika
2 cloves garlic, chopped finely
2 California avocados
Vegetable oil as needed for deep frying
Salt as needed
1 cup salsa (I PREFER HOMEMADE!)

To make beer batter, whisk together beer, flour, paprika, and garlic until well blended. Let stand at least 2 hours.

Peel avocados; cut each into 6 wedges. Dredge 6 wedges in reserved beer batter.

Deep fry in hot oil until golden about 3 minutes. Repeat with remaining wedges.

Serve 3 wedges with 1/4 cup salsa

I love avocados. You should have seen the sorry ones they had the store in town the other day. They were shrivled and hard as a rock. Once again I have to wait til I get to Walmart to take care of my craving for them. Our friend makes sushi for me sometimes and he always puts in extra avocado for me.
 
It's a shame that these stores are allowed to put such pathetic produce out there - and then they expect us to buy it.
I wanted to buy lettuce yesterday - I wouldn't give it to a starving rabbit it was that bad.
When there fresh foods - meats, produce, etc. look bad - I don't buy it - let them eat it.
 
I have picked up greens at the store here in town that actually had mold growing on them. They used the look at me like I was insane when I insisted they go in the back and get better ones. They were like..your just buying them to feed your rabbit.

I LOVE avocadoes! I put them in soups, guacamole of course, avocado mayo for the best BLTs ever, eat them straight up and I've even been known to make avacado gelato!

Sounds great Mama...I love guacamole....and this sounds like it would be easy to make.
 
I actually found some good avacados at the store today.
Im going to make bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwiches with avacado.
 
lol Jon just ate his blt and then I told him it had avocado on it.
He likes it. He wouldnt have touched it if I had told him before.

Where I live, we also use avocados for desserts. Make then into ice cream, shakes, or just served cold with milk and sugar (mashed or sliced). A lot of you may find this tasting funny, but it's popular over here.

I've made avocado gelato and it's really good especially if you serve it with a chocolate mole cake.
 
Amazing! Avocado is by far my favorite ingredient.

jfain, I don't usually follow a thread that starts out with "deep fried"---but chocolate mole cake!!!wowzeee--chocolate cake, peppers and avocado gelato? I just need a boy friend to go with that. Recipe?

Franklly speaking I don't like avocados but this recipe inspired me to cook something with this fruit!

I like avocados straight out of the skin or sliced and eaten on sandwiches or in salads or on a cold plate with boiled egg slices, sweet pickles, pickled okra and believe it or not, with sardines. mmmmmmmm
