I am sorry to admit that I have never tried tofu and wouldn't know what to do with it, or how to use it!!:)
Can it be used as a dairy alternative?

Tofu is a soy product and is a meat substitute. It takes on the flavor of whatever it is added to and comes in several different densities.

CMan, that's one of the reasons I love eggplant. Except for the densities.

When my kids were babies the had to drink soy formula. When ever I smell soy products now, I have flash backs to what them rugrats burped up all the time and the smell of it.

I don't mind tofu cut up into little chunks in Chinese dishes. I really like it in hot and sour soup but I don't think I could handle it as a replacement for a turkey.

Jakester, tofu is a soy product. The beans are processed and then most of the moisture is pressed out. Lol, it's kinda like a bean cheese that doesn't melt.

I am so glad your Mom can raise pigs, have you got any chickens? They are wonderful to have for fresh eggs! Growing your own veggies and being cautious as to the things you can not serve, I am sure you'll beat this allergy problem, remember to focus on the foods you can eat;)
