Hi everyone,
I have recently joined your forum. I really love my food and enjoy cooking for family and friends. But last year my 2 year old boy was diagnosed with severe food allergies, which has meant that I have had to lean how to cook again from scratch, as there is so mauch he cannot have ( but he still wants what my other boy has!!)
A small example of foods we can nolonger use are: wheat, oats, cane sugar, potato,sw potato, onion, garlic, olive oil PLUS others!

So if anyone has any suggestions of exciting meals, it would be greatly appreciated.

Look forward to talking to you.

Jakester

Hello and welcome to the SP Jakester. If you go to the cooking forum here at SP you will see a thread for food allergy Friendly. It has quite a few excellent recipes. I hope you can find something to make both of your boys and family happy. If you have anything in particular in mind we will surely do our best to help any way we can. I haven't met anyone here at SP not willing to help and advise.

Welcome Jakster we are a great group and I am sure there are more than a few of us here that are in the same boat with you. My 9 yr old is allergic to tomatoes, chicken, grapes, apples and several other common foods. I wonder if you are going to try the allergy shots so that in time he can enjoy these foods with-out having reactions to eating them? Until then adjusting recipes etc. is the way to go, and I will get some recipes and ideas together to help you when I get time.:)

Thanks. I have managed to adjust many recipes with good results BUT my pastry still has to be worked on!. Unfortunately in England, the gluten free flour has added potato flour in it instead of wheat, so we cannot use it. So I am trying to blend different flours myself but it is a bit of guess work......

I must admit it is easier to get an 9 yr old to accept he cannot eat something, (my 9yr old = allergy to milk) but the 2 yr old doesn't yet understand. So I make one meal that we all eat as a family to stop any tears at suppertime.

I look forward to the new ideas.
:)
