Recipe: German Chocolate Pie
- 1/2 lb miniture marshmallows
- 1/4 lb German sweet chocolate, broken into pieces
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 pint heavy cream, whipped
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 9" pie shell (or graham cracker shell)
- Combine marshmallows, chocolate, milk, and salt in the top of a double boiler.
- Turn on the heat, and warm, stirring occasionally, until the marshmallows and chocolate have melted.
- Set aside to cool.
- Fold the cooled mixture into whipped cream along with the vanilla.
- Spoon into pie shell.
- Refrigerate for 2 to 3 hours before serving.
