Recipes using Red Star Yeast

 

  • 4 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/3 cups sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 tbsp active dry yeast
  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 1/2 cups butter or margarine
  • 3 beaten eggs
  1. Measure flour into large bowl. Com-bine 2 cups flour, sugar, salt and yeast in a large bowl of electric mixer. Stir well.
  2. Heat milk and butter until very warm (120-130° F).
  3. Gradually add to dry ingredients and beat at low speed (2 minutes) scraping sides of bowl.
  4. Add eggs and 1/2 cup flour and beat 2 minutes at medium speed.
  5. Using wooden spoon, gradually stir in remaining flour to make a soft dough.
  6. Cover and let rise 1 hour or until doubled.
  7. Stir down with spoon into greased and floured 10" tube pan, cover and let rise 1 hour or until doubled.
  8. Bake at 400° F for about 30 minutes.
  9. Turn out and cool on rack.
  10. Serve warm with fresh butter and jam.
