Recipe: Sweet-Sour Pork
- 2 tbsps oil
- 1 lb pork, cut into 1 inch pieces
- 1/2 cup corn syrup, light or dark
- 20 oz can pineapple chunks, plus juice
- 1/2 cup cider vinegar
- 2 tbsps catsup
- 2 tbsps soy sauce
- 1-2 garlic cloves, crushed
- 1 green pepper, cut up in fairly large chunks
- 2 tbsps cornstarch
- 2 tbsps water
- Heat oil in large skillet.
- Brown pork in oil in skillet.
- Add corn syrup, pineapple with juice, vinegar, catsup, soy sauce, garlic.
- Bring to a boil.
- Simmer uncovered about 10 minutes.
- The pork must be thoroughly cooked.
- Add green pepper chunks.
- Mix cornstarch and water together in bowl.
- Stir into skillet to thicken the sauce.
- Boil 1 minute to thincken the sauce.
- Serve over rice or noodles.
