1/2 cup molasses 1/4 cup water 1 lb raisins 1 lb candied fruit 1/2 cup butter 2/3 cup sugar 3 eggs 1/4 cup rum 1 1/4 cups flour 1/2 tsp baking soda 1/4 tsp salt 3/4 tsp cinnamon 3/4 tsp nutmeg 1/4 tsp cloves 1 cup chopped nuts
Put molasses, water, raisins, and candied fruit in saucepan and simmer for 5 minutes. Cool. In mixing bowl combine butter, sugar, eggs, and rum. Sift dry ingredients and add to butter mixture. Add nuts and the first cooled mixture. Drop by tablespoon into midget paper baking cups and bake on cookie sheets at 325° F for 25 minutes. Makes approximately 60 cakes.
