Recipe: Cinnamon Topped Nut Bread

1 1/2 cups sifted flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 tbsp
baking powder
1 tsp
salt
1 cup oats, uncooked
1/2 cup
chopped walnuts
1 1/4 cups milk
1 egg, beaten
1/4 cup melted shortening
To Make Cinnamon Topped Nut Bread
Preheat oven to 350° F..
Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
Stir in oats and nuts.
Add milk, eggs and shortening; stirring only until dry ingredients are moistened.
Pour batter into greased 8 1/2 X 4 1/2 X 2 1/2 inch loaf pan.
Sprinkle with topping made by combining the following ingredients:
Topping for Cinnamon Topped Nut Bread
2 tbsps sugar
1 tbsp flour
1 tsp cinnamon
2 tsps melted butter or margarine
Bake 55 to 60 minutes.
Remove from pan immediately; cool.
Wrap cooled bread and store 1 day for ease in slicing.
