- 1 cup dates, chopped
- 1 cup boiling water
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 3/4 cups sifted flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 cup white granulated sugar
- 1 egg, well beaten
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
- Combine dates, boiling water and butter. Let stand.
- When cool, add flour, baking soda, sugar, egg, and chopped walnuts.
- Pour batter into a greased loaf pan.
- Bake at 375° F. for 30 minutes or 325° for 45 to 60 minutes or until cooked.
