It's a shame we don't (publicly) have the ability to go to the Asteroid Belt (5th position from the sun) and get samples to confirm that it is the other half of our nice planet. Records from our ancient records indicate the 5th position was where our planet used to be (called then "Tiamat") and it was struck and sliced in half, spinning off a solid mass in to a new orbit in the 3rd position from the Sun.

And of course we "acquired" our Moon at a later time in history. Some say its original parent is due for a return soon and to visit its former child/moon.

I admire astronomy as a serious, legitimate science- love it, find it intensely interesting. But like other things- why has there always been a whacky "Art Bell"/alien abduction component to it?

I may have shared this story once already- but a few years back I had to fire a night-baker at a silver-mine camp on Admiralty Island. He listened to the Art Bell program on late-night radio each shift and one day several miners came to me to report that this baker (Mike) was seen several nights bundled-up in a parka, walking a dangerous high pier in the darkness (over water) while paying little attention to his footing (looking up in the sky). Supposedly a guest on Bell's show was "alerting" listeners to some strange phenomenon taking place in the sky that would change their lives. Mike ignored repeated pleas for safety, and directives to stop abandoning his job duties, and insisted on having his life changed by this wacko space crap, so he was invited to leave camp- and stay gone. So, I guess in a way, his life was changed. Sad, but true...

Goodness knows though if it does show up all the powers that be will want to bomb it so they can study it to death!

Each are entitled to their own views but one country practically ruled by the mafia and the other with an unreasonable rod of iron. I think it is a bad mixture.
