• 2 cups sugar
• 1 stick butter or margarine
• 1/2 cup Crisco
• 5 eggs, separated
• 1 cup buttermilk
• 1 tsp baking soda
• 2 cups flour
• 1 cup chopped nuts
• 2 cups coconut

1. Cream sugar, butter and Crisco.
2. Add 5 egg yolks, one at a time.
3. Then add buttermilk, soda mixed with flour, nuts and coconut.
4. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
5. Bake in 3 layer pans for 30 minutes or until done.

Icing

• 1 box powdered sugar
• 8 oz pkg cream cheese
• 1 stick butter or margarine
• 1 tsp pure vanilla extract

Mix all ingredients together and ice cakes; sprinkle nuts on top.
