In a saucepan, creams shortening. Add sugar and eggs. Heat oven mediums heat, stirring constantly. Add flour, salt, and baking powder, then lemon rind and milk, Mix well. Bake in loaf pan in 350° F oven for 50 minutes. Cool 10 minutes. Pour topping over bread. Cool 1 hour before removing from pan.
