Recipe: Maple Candied Sweet Potatoes

• 5 medium sweet potatoes
• 1/2 cup maple syrup
• 1 tbsp butter or margarine
• 1 tsp salt
• 1/4 cup apple cider or juice

Preheat oven to 300°F. Boil potatoes in their jackets until barely done. Peel, slice, and put into a greased baking dish. Bring the remaining ingredients to a boil and pour over the potatoes. Bake at 300°F uncovered for 1 hour or until potatoes are glazed and the syrup has thickened a bit. Baste them two or three times during the baking process.
