Recipe: Round Steak Dinner Casserole

Quantity 

• 1 medium round steak cut into strips
• 2 cups frozen green beans, thawed
• 1 cup chopped mushrooms
• 1/4 tsp dried basil, crushed
• 1/2 cup buttered soft bread crumbs
• 1/2 cup uncooked rice
• 1 cup shredded carrots
• 8 oz can tomato sauce
• 1/4 cup water
• salt and pepper to taste

Preheat oven to 350° F. Lightly butter a 2 - 2 1/2 quart casserole. Layer the uncooked rice, strips of round steak, carrots, green beans, and mushrooms in that order, making 2 layers of the meat. Blend water, tomato sauce, and dried basil together and pour over top of mixture. Top with buttered bread crumbs and bake at 350° F, covered, for 1 hour or until meat is tender.
