• 27oz can or fresh sauerkraut
• 1 medium onion, sliced
• 2 tbsps bacon drippings (or canola oil)
• 3 medium apples, peeled, cored and sliced
• 1 large potato, peeled and shredded
• 1 cup chicken broth
• 2 tbsps brown sugar, packed
• 1 tsp salt
• 1/4 tsp white pepper
• 1 tsp caraway seeds

1. Drain sauerkraut.
2. Cook onion in bacon drippings or oil until tender.
3. Add sauerkraut, apples, potato, broth, brown sugar, salt, pepper and caraway seed; mix well.
4. Cover and cook 15 to 20 minutes, adding more broth if needed.
5. Sprinkle with additional brown sugar if desired.
