Recipe: Toffee Bars

• 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
• 1 cup granulated sugar
• 1 cup butter
• 1 egg, separated
• 1 tsp vanilla
• 1/2 chopped walnuts

To make Toffee Bars Recipe:

1. Preheat oven to 275° F.
2. Grease 15 1/2" x 10 1/2" jellyroll pan.
3. In a large bowl measure all ingredients except egg white and nuts.
4. With mixer at medium speed beat ingredients until well mixed. Put into pan evenly.
5. In cup with fork beat egg white slightly. Brush over top of dough.
6. Sprinkle with chopped walnuts.
7. Bake Toffee Bars for 1 hour and 10 minutes or until golden brown.
8. Immediately cut Toffee Bars into squares (about 50 ).
9. Remove from pan and cool on wire rack.
10. Store Toffee Bars in a tightly covered in pan for 3 days before serving.
