Recipe: Sauerbraten
- 6 lbs bottom round
- 1 qt vinegar
- water to cover
- 6 bay leaves
- 10 cloves
- 10 whole peppercorns
- salt and pepper
- onions
- 10 gingersnaps
- Soak meat 5 days in vinegar and water to cover.
- Add bay leaves, cloves, peppercorns, salt and pepper and as many onions as you like
- Cook slowly about 3 to 4 hours.
- Add gingersnaps.
- When meat is almost finished, put in frying pan
- 4 tbsps canola oil
- 5 to 6 tbsps flour
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- Brown, add small amout of water and mix to a paste.
- Add to meat and let cook 1/2 hour longer.
