Recipes using McCormick Whole Bay Leaves

  1. Heat the canola oil and add bay leaves in a dutch oven (or oven safe large pot).
  2. Let the bay leaves crackle but put the lid on the pan.
  3. Add beef; fry on all sides. When half done, add the onions and let them gentle color to gold.
  4. Sprinkle with flour and brown.
  5. Add the Guiness Stout and water. A little more liquid may be needed, so add a little stock to cover the meat.
  6. Season, and add parsley flakes, and carrots.
  7. Preheat oven to 350° F.
  8. Bring to boil on top of stove. Cover and place in oven for about 2 hours, stirring a few times. Add a little more liquid if the stew looks too dry.
  9. Add the prunes (without liquid) about 1/2 hour before the stew is done.

This dish is best cooked, allowed to get cold, and gently reheated. Serve with boiled potatoes.
