Never Fail Rye Bread

To make Never Fail Rye Bread

  1. Put yeast in large mixing bowl and add small amount of water to dissolve. Let yeast sit 10 minutes.
  2. Then add remainder of water and rye and 1 cup white flour.
  3. Add salt, sugar, and butter. Beat and let stand 1 hour.
  4. Add sorghum and enough white flour to make a stiff dough. This should be stiffer than for white bread.
  5. Knead, let rise, punch down and let rise again.
  6. Make into three 9x5 loaves or four 8x4 smaller loaves and place in greased loaf pans. Cover, and let rise in pans until doubled.
  7. Bake at 350° F. for 30 minutes.
