Brown sugar can harden when exposed to air for an extended period. To help prevent hardening, place brown sugar in an airtight container. Freeze for prolonged storage. Brown sugar will thaw rapidly.
If your Domino Brown Sugar becomes hard, it's very simple to soften. Just follow the softening instructions below:
Microwave Softening Method: Place about 1/2 pound of hardened brown sugar in a microwave safe bowl. Cover brown sugar with two pieces of wet paper towels. Tightly cover bowl with plastic wrap. Heat in microwave at 30 second intervals until softened (adjust time to your microwave power level as needed). Using care as the brown sugar is hot, divide and separate with a fork. Use immediately.
Overnight Softening Method: Place about 1/2 pound of hardened brown sugar in a bowl. Cover brown sugar with two pieces of wet paper towel. Cover boil tightly with aluminum foil of plastic wrap. Let stand overnight at room temperature. Divide and separate with a folk; stir. Store covered in refrigerator.
