  1. Cook lima beans in water to almost cover, adding as necessary, until tender; drain.
  2. Add 1/2 cup milk, butter, salt and sugar.
  3. Cook down.
  4. Meanwhile, mix cornstarch with 1/2 cup milk.
  5. Gradually stir cornstarch mixture into beans until desired consistency is acquired.
  6. Add salt and pepper to taste.
