Pink Peppercorns (Baies Roses), Schinus species, are berries native to the Island of Reunion, located in the Western Indian Ocean. They are not related to the Piper nigrum species that produces black, white pepper and green peppercorns. Pink Peppercorns are similar to pepper but impart a distinctively sweet, fragrant quality in food preparation.
Pink Peppercorns may be used as a seasoning in sauces, dressings, dips, and mustards, as well as a flavoring agent in prepared foods or as a garnish. McCormick Pink Peppercorns are excellent with steak or chicken or with melted butter for vegetables, rice, or pasta.
