McCormick Thyme Leaves flavor is characterized as minty-green, hay-like, and musty. The flavor of thyme is distinctively warm, pleasant, aromatic, and pungent. The herb thyme is the dried leaves and flowering tops of the plant Thymus vulgaris.

Thyme is used in flavoring chowders, meats, cottage cheese, creamed chipped beef, creamed chicken, Creole seafood dishes, poultry dressing, tomatoes, marinades, vegetables, fish and cheese dishes. Thyme butter is good over creamed white onions, asparagus, green beans and eggplant. Manhattan Clam Chowder probably comes closest to giving Thyme a starring role. Thyme is an important ingredient in the French and Latin American cooking.

Spicy Chicken Wings Recipe:

• 4 1/2 pounds chicken wings
• 2 cups ketchup
• 1/2 cup brown sugar
• 1 tbsp McCormick Thyme Leaves
• 1 tsp McCormick Ground Black Pepper

1. Cut chicken wings into 3 sections; discard tips. Put wing sections in shallow half-size steam table pan.
2. Combine ketchup, brown sugar, Thyme Leaves and Black Pepper. Pour over chicken.
3. Cover and refrigerate 2 hours; stir occasionally.
4. Bake, uncovered, at 375°F for 40 minutes, basting occasionally.

Herbed French Bread Recipe

• 1 loaf French Bread
• 1/2 cup softened butter
• 1 tsp McCormick Parsley Flakes
• 1/2 tsp McCormick Granulated Onion
• 1/8 tsp McCormick Thyme Leaves

1. Slice loaf of French bread.
2. Combine softened butter, Parsley Flakes,  Granulated Onion and Thyme Leaves. Spread between bread slices.
3. Wrap bread slices in aluminum foil and heat in 400°F oven for 10 minutes or until heated through.
