McCormick Ground Dry Mustard: Ground, or dry, Mustard is the ground seed of the mustard plant.
Unlike most other aromatic spices, Ground Mustard has no aroma when dry. Ground Mustard must be moistened for about 10 minutes to develop its sharp, hot, tangy flavor. Mustard is derived from two commercially important classes of herbs: Brassica hirta that produces white or yellow seeds; and Brassica juncea that produces brown and Oriental seeds.
1 teaspoon Ground Mustard is equivalent to 1 tablespoon prepared mustard in cooked recipes.
Cooking Suggestions: Add to ground mustard to cheese soufflé, cheese spreads and sauces. Use mustard in French dressing, mayonnaise, barbecue sauces, Italian dressing or ham glaze. Powdered mustard is delicious added to egg, potato, macaroni and shrimp salad.
