Recipe: Old Fashioned Biscuits

• 2 cups all purpose flour
• 2 1/2 teaspoons Clabber Girl Baking Powder
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1/3 cup shortening
• 3/4 cup milk
• 1 tablespoon soft margarine or butter

1. In a bowl stir together flour, baking powder and salt.
2. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
3. Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and add the milk all at once.
4. Stir just until moistened and dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
5. On a floured surface, lightly knead dough for 30 seconds.
6. Roll dough to 3/4 inch thickness and cut biscuits with a 2 1/2 inch biscuit cutter, dipping cutter into flour between cuts.
7. Place biscuits close together on a lightly greased baking sheet.
8. Brush tops with soft margarine or butter.
9. Bake at 475 degrees for 11 to 15 minutes or until goldern borwn.
10. Serve warm.

Recipe: Old Fashioned Biscuits

• 4 pounds flour
• 2.2 ounces Clabber Girl Baking Powder
• 1 ounce salt
• 13.9 ounces shortening
• 36.9 ounces milk

1. Blend flour, baking powder and salt in mixer for 1 minute at low speed.
2. Add shortening and blend into dry ingredients for 2 minutes at low speed.
3. Mixture will be crumbly.
4. Add milk and mix for approximately 1 minute on low speed to form soft dough.
5. Scrape bowl as necessary during mixing.
6. Turn out onto lightly floured surface.
7. Knead ball of dough lightly for 1 minute.
8. Roll or pat out each ball of dough to 1/2 inch thickness.
9. Cut with floured 2 1/2 inch biscuit cutter and place on sheet pan (18 inch X 26 inch X 1 inch) in rows of 5 acorss and 10 down.
10. Bake until lightly browned.
11. Conventional over 450 degrees for 12 to 14 minutes.
12. Convection oven 400 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.
