McCormick Imitation Vanilla Extracts and Flavors rely completely, or in part, on artificial flavors rather than the vanilla beans for its flavor. Their aroma is more straightforward than the pure extract. Imitation is the stronger in flavor and retains its flavor even when cooking at very high temperatures. Artificially flavored products will last longer and not discolor.

Recipe Vanilla Sauce:

Melt 1 cup butter or margarine over low heat. Carefully pour off clear portion of butter into a small bowl to make clarified butter. Stir in 1/2 tsp lemon juice and 1/4 tsp Clear Imitation Vanilla Extract. Serve hot with steamed lobster, other seafood and steamed vegetables. Recipe yields 3/4 cup.

Wedding White Frosting Recipe

  • 1 cup vegetable shortening
  • 1 tsp. McCormick® Clear Imitation Vanilla Extract
  • 1 pkg. (16 oz.) confectioners' sugar, sifted
  • 2 to 3 tbsp. milk
  1. Beat shortening in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until creamy. Mix in clear imitation vanilla extract.
  2. Beat in confectioners' sugar, 1 cup at a time, on low speed until well blended.
  3. Add milk, beat on medium speed until light and fluffy.

Makes 2 cups of white frosting.
